Week 4 : Mind Mapping

In this week class, we've been thought with a very interesting topic about mind mapping. According to the lecture today, the mind map can be categorized into two different category which is the Logical Mind Map and Associated Mind Map. Logical mind map is all about a stereotypes mind map because the words and the images in this mind map usually have a direct related meaning to the central subject through the arrow or links. As for the Associated mind map, it able to use a random word that are not have any connection to the main subject so we can get more creative when using this kind of mind map. Mind map is a powerful medium in learning process because it can make the learning process more effective and easy for people to remember rather than reading whole bunch of books. A mind map also can guide people what they want to achieve.

this is a video about mind mapping from tony buzan

Week 3 : Novelty,Innovation And Invention

This week class we've been thought about novelty, innovation, invention, and creativity. In this post i will try to explain my own idea about what I've learn from lecture.

Novelty
nov⋅el⋅ty [nov-uhl-tee]
–noun
1. state or quality of being novel, new, or unique; newness: the novelty of a new job.
2. a novel occurrence, experience, or proceeding: His sarcastic witticisms had ceased being an entertaining novelty.
3. an article of trade whose value is chiefly decorative, comic, or the like and whose appeal is often transitory: a store catering to tourists who loaded up with souvenir pennants and other novelties.

Novelty is about the quality of being new and unique. Novelty can be divided into two different types which is subjective and objective novelty. Point of view of anything and everything being new or different by a single person is called subjective novelty. Objective novelty is a progression about something new through ages.

Innovation
in⋅no⋅va⋅tion [in-uh-vey-shuhn]
–noun
1. something new or different introduced: numerous innovations in the high-school curriculum.
2. the act of innovating; introduction of new things or methods.

Innovation from my point of view is the ability or process to turn some existed thing into something new that can be accepted by the community. Innovation also need to be satisfy the particular need of everyone.

Week 2 : Creative and Creativity Definition

This week, I learned about the creative and creativity in the creative studies class.

CRE.A.TIVE
[kree-ey-tiv]
–adjective
1.having the quality or power of creating.
2.resulting from originality of thought, expression, etc.; imaginative: creative writing.
3.originative; productive (usually fol. by of).

What is creative in my point of view?
Creative is the power to produce a great idea and to create something new that have a benefits to either our self or people. In order for us to be creative is we must have a lot of observation around us, experiences and also require a lot of thinking. For example, if we want to create new functional gadgets, we can't just sit in one place and keep thinking without doing anything. We have to look up for a references so that we can come out with a creative ideas.

Picture above is one the example of creative ideas.

Cre·a·tiv·i·ty [kree-ey-tiv-i-tee, kree-uh-]
–noun
1. the state or quality of being creative.
2. the ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships, or the like, and to create meaningful new ideas, forms, methods, interpretations, etc.; originality, progressiveness, or imagination: the need for creativity in modern industry; creativity in the performing arts.
3. the process by which one utilizes creative ability: Extensive reading stimulated his creativity.

source:dictionary.com
My understanding about creativity:
I think creativity is an ability to turn the creative idea to something real. Its just like you think of something new and you make it real, make it possible for us to see and also touch the think from your imagination. for example is like to create a new character for an animation, first you have to think of it first, then you'll see it in your mind, after that you have to sketch your idea on the paper. That is the thinking creative part. The part how you make the character alive is the creativity.
